Dear Parents and Guardians,
EXCITING NEWS – SCHOOL HOUSE COLOURS & COLOUR RUN FUNDRAISER!
We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you! As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering a vibrant school community, we are pleased to announce the release of our Sport House Colours, which will soon be available for families.
Our Sport Houses are as follows:
- Roch House: Red
- MacKillop House: Blue
- Clare House: Yellow
- Pio House: Green
Each House name has been thoughtfully chosen by our students, reflecting the values and qualities that resonate with them. Over the coming weeks, students will have the opportunity to learn more about the lives and virtues of each Saint associated with these Houses.
In addition to this, we are excited to announce that students will have the wonderful opportunity to compete for the first time in their respective House colours during our inaugural Colour Run fundraiser on November 29! This day promises to be filled with fun activities for students and families, and we invite you to join us in the celebrations. A detailed schedule of events will be released closer to the date.
All children are asked to wear a white T-shirt along with old shorts and runners on this day. They will participate in the Colour Run at the end of this wonderful active day, ensuring plenty of excitement and fun! The school will provide Sport House Colours for your child to wear on the day.
We look forward to your support and encouragement for your child to be fully involved in this special event. A reminder to create a profile for your child to raise money for outdoor items needed around the school. While there will be incentive prizes provided by the Colour Run company, we are also offering wonderful prizes for the classroom or year level that raises the most money or has the largest participation.
We are also grateful for the support from our after-school care program Kelly Club, which will be running a Tabloid Sport program for students in grades P-2 and 3-6 at different times throughout the day. While some students engage in the Tabloid Sport workshops, the other half of the school will be competing in various events representing their Sport House colours on the soccer pitch.
Important: Please Check
Your child will be coming home with a slip identifying the Colour House they have been placed into. They will remain in this Colour House for the remainder of their time at St. Lawrence of Brindisi. Please check that all your children have come home with the same Colour House. If your children have been placed in different Colour Houses, please contact the school via email at office@slweirviews.catholic.edu.au; your children will be placed in the same house. No other changes will be made. New Sport Uniform Colour House tops will be released in January 2025.
Thank you for your continued support as we embark on this exciting journey together! We look forward to a fantastic day of fun, competition, and community spirit.
IT’S HAY FEVER SEASON AGAIN!
As we welcome the longer, warmer days, many students may start experiencing the discomfort of hay fever, including sneezing, runny noses, itchy rashes, and watering or sore eyes. In some cases, these symptoms can trigger asthma attacks, so it is crucial for us to work together to ensure your child’s health and safety.
Please make sure the school has your child’s asthma action plan and any necessary medication to treat their symptoms.
To minimize any disruption to your child’s learning and to help maintain a comfortable environment for all students, we recommend that on days with a high pollen count, your child is medicated with an antihistamine before coming to school.
If your child has received a one-time dose of antihistamine but still presents with significant swelling or itchy eyes, mouth, or throat in the first aid room, we will contact you to arrange for their pickup and further care.
If your child has a diagnosed allergy, it is vital that we have a copy of their allergy action plan along with any required medication on file.
We thank you in advance for your support and cooperation in helping us manage hay fever season effectively.
