Dear Families,
Sunday is Mother’s Day, which we will celebrate as a school community tomorrow starting at 8.30am. Mother’s Day is a special day to celebrate the amazing work our mothers, grandmothers and the other special women in our lives play in helping to shape and support us. We have an incredible group of mothers at St Lawrence of Brindisi who have played an integral role in the development of our school community and without their efforts, our school would not have been able to make the progress we have over the last four years.
We pray to our Mother Mary to bless all the mothers of our school community. May Mother Mary bless you all, inspiring and energising you by her gentle example of love and perseverance. May she guide you each day as you care and guide your child/ren to grow and flourish. Below is a prayer you may like to pray together with your family on Mother’s Day.
Our Mother’s Day prayer services and morning tea will this year take place in the classrooms as we are trialling a new approach to see if this is a little easier for us to manage, given we currently do not have a space that is big enough for the whole school to gather.
Mother’s Day has always been an important celebration in the life of our school, and it is wonderful to see so many of our mothers, grandmothers, aunts and special friends join us for our prayer service and breakfast
AUSTRALIA’S BEST TEACHER CAMPAIGN
Our school is blessed to have lots of amazing teachers who work really hard to nurture your children and develop their learning each and every day. One of the joys of my job is getting to walk around the school during the day and observe just how skilled some of these teachers are in their work.
Our governing authority, Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS), is partnering with News Corp to promote the Australia’s Best Teacher campaign.
The campaign will feature outstanding teachers across MACS schools to recognise the teachers who inspire our students to flourish. The campaign begins on 28 May and will be promoted in the Herald Sun, Sunday Herald Sun,
Geelong Advertiser and V-Weekend. The Top 50 teachers will be announced on 21 June.
We need your support by encouraging your school community to nominate the teachers who inspire them. It would be wonderful if our community could nominate some of our amazing teachers as this would be a fitting recognition of their dedication to our school and to supporting your children in their educational journey.
Parents and guardians can use the link to nominate one of our amazing teachers: https://www.australiasbestteacher.com.au/
