PERFORMING ARTS TERM ONE OVERVIEW

 

Exploration: 

Exploration will be exploring drama as makers, performers and audience members. We will be learning how to pretend to be real or imagined characters using our voice and movement. We also will be learning to sing songs together and add movements to match the rhythm of the songs.

Discovery: 

Discovery Grade One will be learning to be drama makers, performers and audience members. We will be exploring the Acting Tools of Voice, Face, and Body to be imagined characters or characters from known stories. We also will be learning to sing together and understand the musical elements of fast/slow tempo and high/low pitch.

Discovery Grade Two will be learning how to act with confidence in small groups. We will be learning to move safely through space, using the Acting tools of facial expressions, body movement and voice to become a new character. We also will be learning to sing together and describe rhythmic patterns.

Curiosity: 

Curiosity Grade Three will be learning to use the dramatic elements such as voice, movement and gesture known as Acting Tools. We will be learning how these acting tools help us to develop a character and help us to stay in character. We will also be learning how to describe and create simple rhythmic patterns as well as understand high and low pitch.

Curiosity Grade Four will be learning how to use the Acting Tools of facial expressions, voice, word choice and body movements or gestures to make characters. We will be learning to feel confident to stay in character when performing drama in front of our peers and working together. We will also be exploring the musical elements of rhythm and pitch to sing and compose two-tone songs

Challenge: 

Challenge Grade Five will be learning how to make thoughtful choices when using acting tools to stay in character. We will be using our expressive skills to plan and present individual characters and collaborative scenes. We will also be exploring music preferences as well as common music elements such as rhythms and songs in the pentatonic scale.

 

Challenge Grade Six will be learning how to act with confidence in front of others. We will use our acting tools and drama elements to plan and present characters and stories both individually and in groups. We will also be exploring music preferences as well as common music elements such as rhythms and songs in the pentatonic scale.
