We are seeking applications from skilled, enthusiastic, innovative educators with a demonstrated leadership capacity for the role of Deputy Principal: Learning and Teaching. Applicants will need to possess a thorough knowledge of and capacity to support staff in the implementation of a curriculum framework in a primary school setting and a contemporary Catholic Religious Education curriculum. An understanding of the Victorian Curriculum, the MACS Vision for Instruction, and the MACS RE curriculum is preferred.

 

We are looking for a school leader who demonstrates the capacity to build nurturing, professional relationships with students, staff and parents. They must be open to professional growth and learning and have the capacity to provide targeted support, mentoring and feedback to staff. Applicants must possess highly developed administrative and communication skills.

 

Applicants must have a current VIT registration (or the capacity to gain this) and should have experience working in a Catholic school setting. Applicants with a current VCEA Accreditation to Teach in Catholic School (or interstate equivalent) are preferred.

Key Selection Criteria

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • a capacity to support the Catholic identity and ethos of our school community.
  • a thorough understanding of a Catholic education curriculum in a primary school setting.
  • a detailed understanding of curriculum implementation and a demonstrated capacity to lead staff in the implementation of contemporary curriculum processes.
  • a demonstrated capacity to support the professional growth of staff.
  • a demonstrated capacity to provide high-level leadership skills in a primary school setting, including strong administrative skills.
  • a willingness to engage collaboratively with students, staff and the wider school community.
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills.

2026 TEACHING POSITION

St Lawrence of Brindisi Catholic Primary School is one of Melbourne’s newest Catholic primary schools, located in Victoria’s fastest growing and most dynamic urban growth corridor, just 40 minutes from Melbourne CBD. We are seeking applications from an enthusiastic, innovative teacher. This is an ongoing, full-time teaching position.

We have built a strong reputation as the primary school of choice within our local community, with approximately 550 students in 2026. We are looking for a teacher who can develop nurturing relationships with children and professional relationships with colleagues and parents. They must be open to professional growth and learning and have the capacity to provide targeted, engaging learning opportunities for children. These positions will commence on January 28, 2026.

 

Australian or New Zealand graduate teachers are strongly encouraged to apply and will be fully supported in our school. 

 

Overseas-based applicants must have at least one year of full-time teaching experience in primary schools to meet the visa requirements set by the Australian Commonwealth Government. They will also need to meet the requirements for teacher registration set by the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT), including a high level of proficiency in written and spoken English.

 

You will be working for Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS), which owns and operates nearly 300 Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Melbourne. MACS is one of Victoria’s largest employers and is registered with the Australian Commonwealth Government to support the visa applications of successful overseas applicants.
