News & Events

Dear Families,

DISCOVERY GRADE ONE NEWS

Our Discovery Grade One students have been busy learning all about food! They’ve explored the tastes, textures and colours of a variety of foods, and even took part in a fun taste-testing session. The students tried carrots, capsicum, apples, strawberries and bananas, using descriptive vocabulary to explain what they experienced.

They proudly shared their learning with the junior school at their assembly, presenting their findings and performing some songs that supported their learning along the way!

Thank you to all the D

iscovery Grade One students, teachers and Learning Support Officers. Wishing you a lovely long weekend!

CHALLENGE GRADE FIVE LITERACY NEWS

The students in Grade 5 have been learning how vocabulary is used to express greater precision of meaning, and have been working on extending their vocabulary. Vocabulary is important to every writer as it helps create a picture in the reader’s mind.

Below are some examples of the sentences written by some of the students with their specific vocabulary either underlined or coloured.

SCHOOL COMMUNITY TEAM MEETING

We rescheduled the date for our School Community Team meeting for Thursday, June 12 @ 6.00pm, as we did not get enough parents and guardians to attend last night. I am working hard to provide opportunities for parent engagement with the school, and the school community team is a way in which parents and guardians can make a positive contribution to the life of our school. The work this group does directly impacts your children.

At the moment, for instance, we are trying to organise fundraising efforts for the school so that this money can be used to provide things like extra seating for the children and parents outside the front of the school, sensory play areas etc.  The more parents and guardians we have supporting this group, the better ideas we are able to develop and the more the load for organising these events is shared across many parents rather than just a few (or left to our hardworking admin team)
